About Us

The purpose of this association is to: a. educating students about the latest cyber security threats and trends. The organization provides hands-on training in various areas of cyber security, including network security, digital forensics, and ethical hacking; b. promotes positive and meaningful communication, coordination, and collaboration between Hawks and with other components of the university; c. promotes cooperation, volunteerism, and unity among Hawks; and d. provides opportunities for professional development for Hawks. Section 2 - The Mission of this association is: a. The HCSO at UHCL is an organization of university students engaged in interaction and dialogue with faculty, staff, and students. HCSO provides increased opportunities for its members through collective input, networking, and professional development, inspired by creating a safe and secure online environment for all and is dedicated to fostering the next generation of cyber security experts

Members Benefits

Members of HCSO gain valuable opportunities to network and collaborate with fellow students, faculty, and industry professionals, creating connections that support both academic and career success.

In addition, active members are eligible to earn graduation honor cords. To qualify, members must earn a minimum of 15 points per semester. Students who are members for one to four semesters must reach a total of 50 points before graduation, while students who are members for five or more semesters must reach 100 points before graduation.

Member Honor Cords will be Black and Red, while Officer and Governance Honor Cords will be Black, Red, and Gold, recognizing their leadership and service to the organization.
