Student groups established to support the mission and initiatives of a university department utilizing students to lead programs and services. The organization receives a direct benefit from a university department (budget, training, etc.) with the purpose of offering programs and services that are currently not being met by the department or institution. Department sponsored organizations are established and managed at the discretion of the department, where department leadership has direct oversight of the student group. A full-time faculty/staff member serves as the organization’s advisor as part of their job description.
