Strong student organizations create environments where members feel respected, valued, connected, and safe. Student leaders play an important role in shaping that culture and ensuring that organizational traditions and practices support rather than harm their members.

During this session of the Student Organization Leadership Development (SOLD) Series, participants will explore what hazing can look like, how harmful traditions and group expectations can develop, and the responsibility leaders have in preventing hazing within their organizations.

Students will learn to recognize concerning behaviors, consider how organizational culture influences member experiences, understand appropriate ways to respond when concerns arise, and explore ways to create meaningful traditions and a strong sense of belonging without compromising the dignity or well-being of others.
